Surrounded by his loving family on February 28th, 3 days before his 78th birthday, Rick passed peacefully into the next life. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and proud Newfie, he leaves behind his adoring wife of 38 years, Sandy, children Michael (Sherri), Michelle, Adam (Kim), and grandchildren Kathleen, Shayla, Brooke, Connor, Ashtyn, Scott and Cari. He will be dearly missed by his great-grandchildren, cousins, extended family, countless friends and anyone who was fortunate enough to have met him. Rick’s kind heart and fantastic sense of humour were infectious. He lit up a room when telling Newfie jokes or recounting stories from days past and his kindness was limitless. He loved the Tiger Cats, curling, playing cards, horseshoes, darts, bowling (even appearing on Bowling for Dollars in the ’80’s!); really anything that brought his friends and family together. Rick was a dedicated 911 Dispatcher for the Hamilton Police Services for almost 30 years, and remained an active member of the Police Retirees’ Association. Cremation has taken place and a small family ceremony will be held. In lieu of a service, Rick wanted a party. This will take place in the near future, time and place to be determined. In lieu of flowers, Rick can be honoured by a random act of kindness or a donation to the charity of your choice.
